Solvents & Lubricants

Solvent, lubricant and protectant are three jobs, and combined products do all three adequately rather than any of them well. For a gun that gets shot occasionally that trade is fine. For anything high-round-count, separate products are worth the extra bottle.

Copper solvents are the ones to read the label on. Ammonia-based removers strip copper fouling effectively, attack bronze brushes, and must not be left in a bore for extended periods. Grease belongs on slow high-pressure surfaces like locking lugs and rails; light oil belongs where parts move fast. Neither belongs in a firing pin channel, where it collects residue and eventually causes light strikes.
