Reloading pays off on volume and on precision, and rarely on both at once. A single-stage press is slow, simple and the right way to learn; a progressive press produces hundreds of rounds an hour and has more going on than a beginner can monitor safely.

The equipment that determines your results is not the press. A reliable scale, a consistent powder measure and a case trimmer are what produce ammunition that shoots the same way twice. Buy a current load manual before buying any of it, and work up from the starting load every time — published data is specific to the exact components listed, and substituting a primer or a case brand changes pressure.
