Scope Mounts

Rings and one-piece mounts do the same job differently. Separate rings are lighter and let you position the scope precisely for eye relief. A one-piece cantilever mount holds alignment better under hard use and is the standard on ARs because it pushes the scope forward over the handguard.

Get three things right. Ring height must clear the objective bell and the barrel — too high forces a bad cheek weld, too low will not fit. Tube diameter must match exactly: 1 inch, 30mm and 34mm are not interchangeable. And torque the screws to the manufacturer's specification with an actual torque wrench, because overtightening rings crushes scope tubes and undertightening loses zero.
